Employees that are committed to the firm’s mission and values are more productive and remain longer at the company. The recruiting manager is attempting to determine whether or not that person is you.

You might feel nervous, unsure how to respond to the question, “Why do you want to work here?” You should never respond to this question with something as simple as, “Well, the pay is fantastic, and I need a job.”

While this is true, you’re not giving yourself a good shot.

You must demonstrate that you have done your homework on the organization, that your core beliefs align with the company’s goals, and that you will love working there.

The recruiting manager will not want to hire someone who is simply interested in making money.
