How Much Exactly Should You Write On Your Resume

Avoid personal details.

Consider your Resume to be a highlight reel of your professional life. It should provide a few key details about your relevant skills and abilities in brief snippets. It should not, however, contain long, dense blocks of text about a job you held in high school 20 years ago. Concentrate on the most crucial elements and be as concise as possible. When it comes to the best length of a resume, if you have many years of experience or more, a two-page resume is acceptable. If you’re looking for a job as an entry-level employee, keep it to one page.

It’s a waste of space to repeat the same information on both. Instead, in your cover letter, tell a story about why you want to work for the firm or why you’re interested in the industry. Concentrate on quantifying your skills, abilities, and accomplishments on your Resume.

Avoid extra information.

You don’t have to mention your college GPA or coursework unless you’re a recent graduate. Also, stay away from details such as hobbies. If you undertake volunteer work that is relevant to the position or firm, you can list it in the “Volunteer” section. However, when it comes to superfluous material, avoid including it as much as possible.
