Should you just apply with your LinkedIn profile?
You’ve probably come across opportunities during your job hunt to submit using the “LinkedIn Easy Apply Button” via LinkedIn. But you should? Or is it easier to take the more conventional route to use your resume to apply?
While applying for a position on LinkedIn, you have the option to upload your resume – so we suggest that you add your resume if you have the opportunity. Recruiters are always evaluating a candidate’s resume in nearly all cases to determine if they are a good match for a position. And because LinkedIn has made it too easy to apply without a resume, applicants who send a high-quality resume will really distinguish themselves.
- Headline
- Current job title
- Past job titles
- Education
- Recommendations
- Connections
- Contact information
If all of this material is not up-to – date, or positions you are in the right light for the opportunity-it does not reflect well on your candidacy. And worst, if there are inconsistencies in your LinkedIn profile and your Cover letter, recruiters find it a red flag. It’s a lot to get right, particularly if you are already in full-time jobs. Check online for LinkedIn profile templates, or look for ideas on the perfect LinkedIn profiles to make the process a bit easier.
